Once I loved a man
He was everything to me.
He was there when I needed him,
No matter what that need be.
This man was strong -
He always stood so tall.
In my eyes he was never wrong,
His love surrounded me winter, spring, summer and fall.
But one day this man began to grow weak.
As I looked at him his eyes seemed to be trying,
trying to tell me "I'm dying".
When this man died,
there were tears I could not hide.
But did I hide them?
I didn't bother -
Because this man,
Was my father.
Once I loved a man -
he was everything to me.
