I was driving out of the parking lot
I watched a lady crossing
She wore blue stirrup pants
White tennis shoes and
A white turtle neck sweater

Her fists were clenched as though holding imaginary canes
Her body was shaking violently
Her tiny steps were just inches apart
Her eyes were fixed and stared ahead

I watched from my near my parking space
Then I watched as I drove away

I kept on watching through my rear view mirror, and thought

The years are so good to some, yet so cruel to others

I kept on watching through my mirror until
I came to the end of the parking lot

I took one last look through my mirror
Made a right hand turn onto the busy highway

And then....

I CRIED
