CHAPTER 1: PRELUDE TO A PLOT Wherein Marcus and Keri learn that they universe is being manipulated by the Players, and they temporarily are given the nanotechnology that allows them to manipulate they universe. |
CHAPTER 2: OOPS Wherein an agent of one of the Players tries to kidnap Marcus, Keri, Jimmy, and Phun. When Benny intervenes, he sends the five of them on a series of misadventures across a series of alternate universes. They manage to return home just in time to join several other friends and acquaintances before the entire group is stranded in another alternate universe when the Confederacy won the Civil War and now controls not only the southern US, but all of Central and South America. In this universe, Paonia is one of thirty-one states in the US. |
CHAPTER 3: DREAMS & OTHER CATASTROPHES Wherein the Pawns learn about the universe they find themselves trapped in. Later, several of them find their dreams invaded by Phobia, the teenage daughter of the Archetype of Death, and the often unfortunate lives of the Pawns is explored. |
CHAPTER 4: PATTERNS IN THE STARS Wherein Marcus, Keri, Phun, Zoe, and Tym are abducted by aliens, arrested for the crime of knowing that aliens exist. Succeeding in escaping and starting their trip home, they explore the history and unusual biology of their alien allies. What they learn throws the entire interstellar empire into chaos. |
CHAPTER 5: FOUR HORSEMEN Wherein the Pawns accidentally free the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and nearly bringing about the end of the world. Joining forces with Phobia, they travel to Limbo, the home of the Archetypes (predessors of the Gods and the Players), and succeed in stopping the Four Horsemen, but not all of their friends survive the disaster that they unintentionally unleased. |
INTERLUDE 1: AFTER ARMAGEDDON Wherein a memorial is held for the friends they've lost. Later, an enemy that they narrowly missed meeting during their universe-hopping adventure arrives, now as an ally. The first steps in the plot against the Players are taken. Also, Keri records in her journal the tragic results of the Four Horsemen incident, called the Apocalypse Plague by the press and government. |

CHAPTER 6: ALL HALLOWS EVE Wherein the gang's Halloween plans are disrupted by the ghosts of kids who died in a Halloween fire twenty years earlier. |
INTERLUDE 2: CAMPFIRE TALES Wherein we hear the story of Marcus and Keri's second date, the story of a forgotten Aztec tomb, the story of Jimmy's discovry of the Four Horsemen cave and his subsequent encounter with a god, the story of Marcus and Keri's first meeting with some interesting denizens of the Tri-City Mall, and the story of Leslie and Bobbi Jo's adventure during the reign of the Four Horsemen. |
CHAPTER 7: ZOMBIWORLD Wherein Jimmy learns that Benny has cracked the lockout code on the TUP and uses it to travel to a zombie-infested world to try to rescue the alternate version of one of Phun. |
CHAPTER 8: DAY OF THE GECKO Wherein Marcus, Keri, and Jimmy become involved in the conflict between a group of mad scientists and their half-animal creations. |
CHAPTER 9: THE UNCIVIL WAR Wherein Jimmy learns that a member of his alternate Earth's family is a slave in the Confederate States of America and promptly heads to the rescue. |
INTERLUDE 3: VIGNETTES Wherein we pause to catch up with several members of the gang. |
VOLUME III: CHAPTERS 10-13, INTERLUDE 4, & POSTSCRIPT |
CHAPTER 10: THE SPIDER Wherein Bethie concludes that Jimmy is the Spider (the serial killer who murdered her sister) and sets out to find him with Marcus and Keri coming along to try to prove Jimmy's innocence. |
CHAPTER 11: JIMMY'S TALE Wherein we hear Jimmy's story of where he was and what (and who) he was doing during the previous Chapter. |
